Be a Foster Parent!
If you've been considering joining a rescue, chances are you've seen this, or something along these lines: “No experience needed! We will provide everything you need, all you provide is the love!”. Yes, to an extent that may be true, but actually, Good Karma requires our foster homes to provide more than love. Our foster parents provide structure, rehabilitation when needed, patience, and commitment. Good Karma is only as strong as the commitment level of our foster families!! If you're passionate about saving dogs from shelters, we'd love to hear from you. However, if you're looking at fostering as a way to shop for a new dog, if you aren't able to tolerate accidents, or if you're looking for a foster dog to fit seamlessly into your life and your routine, fostering may not be the best option for you. It's very important to us that our foster parents ENJOY the experience!! Fostering is a lot of work, but it's one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. The effort is always worth it! If you're a committed and passionate animal-person with a crazy love for dogs and a sense of humor, we'd love to have you come and rescue with us!
Good Karma University!! A proprietary training series to help you learn the ropes of fostering and Good Karma. Free classes for all volunteers on all kinds of cool topics ranging from obedience training to Pet CPR and First Aid. It's just one of many ways we show appreciation for our volunteers!
We are meticulous about the supplies and care we provide for Good Karma dogs. You will receive all the supplies you need for your foster dog, including:
High quality food.
What's that, you say? "I could never foster! I couldn't say goodbye/ I have no room/ I have no time/insert reason here", consider this. Each week, over 9,000 shelter pets are euthanized through no fault of their own. That figure does NOT include the countless forgotten pets that are never reported, who are neglected, abused, or abandoned. That does not include the animals who are chained up outside 24/7, used for breeding or fighting, or who have otherwise been robbed of their right to a happy life. Opening your home temporarily for one of these helpless animals literally will save its life, PLUS one more! You're saving the foster dog that is coming to your home, but you're also opening up a space in that shelter for another dog who needs it. Yes, it's hard to say goodbye - but the tears are a small price to pay for the impact you're having on the world and on the lives of the animals you save. Every homeless dog needs just ONE person to step up and save them. Be that ONE person!
